Stress Cover

Most life Insurance policies have exclusions, stress being one of them. With more and more people suffering from stress it is perhaps worth considering a product that includes stress.



Hitachi Capital now have Mortgage Protection Insurance that covers stress. The policy includes carers, meaning if a person is unable to work because they have to care for a dependant, they will be covered. The policy is worded as ‘covering full accident, sickness and unemployment’.

The Company have said that stress covered in their insurance will protect homeowners in the event they are unable to work. On a mortgage repayment of £750pm Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance cover would cost from £17.55 and this drops to £16.28 for first time buyers.

Of course policy wording should always be read before signing and the word ‘work’ should be defined. Some companies will pay if the claimant cannot continue with their normal job, others will only pay the claimant if no job at all could be undertaken. It would also be prudent to check whether there are any exclusions regarding pre-existing conditions and if premiums are fixed or variable.
